Rory McIlroy, a four-time major champion from Northern Ireland, has shared details of the menu he plans to curate for the Masters Champions Dinner should he win the tournament and claim the green jacket.[1][2]
The Champions Dinner, a tradition dating to 1952, is hosted annually by the defending champion on the Tuesday before the Masters Tournament for all living past winners at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia.[3]
McIlroy's menu includes four appetizers: rock shrimp tempura, peach and ricotta flatbread, bacon-wrapped dates and grilled elk sliders with caramelized onion jam and roasted garlic aioli. He cited his mother's recipe for the dates stuffed with goat cheese and bacon, and noted incorporating elk from a recent shipment into the sliders to avoid overusing it as the main.[1][4]
The first course is yellowfin tuna carpaccio, inspired by Le Bernardin restaurant in New York City, a favorite of McIlroy and his wife.[1][4]
Main course options are wagyu filet mignon or seared salmon, served with Irish champ potatoes, Brussels sprouts and crispy Vidalia onion rings. McIlroy described champ as a childhood favorite eaten "by the bowlful."[1]
Dessert is sticky toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream and warm toffee sauce.[1]
McIlroy selected four wines from Augusta National's cellar, including a 2022 Domaine Leflaive and a 1990 Château Lafite Rothschild, with bottles from those vintages retailing for $1,200 or more.[1][5]
