Bo Nix undergoes second procedure on repaired ankle: report

Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix underwent a second procedure last week on the ankle he fractured during the playoffs. The procedure took place with Dr. Norman Waldrop III in Birmingham, Alabama, according to an ESPN report. Nix originally had surgery on the injury two days after fracturing the ankle.

Nix suffered the fracture in the Broncos' 33-30 overtime victory over the Buffalo Bills in the divisional round on Jan. 17. Broncos coach Sean Payton addressed Nix's recovery Saturday after Day 3 of the NFL Draft but did not mention the second procedure. "He had a recheck that was scheduled. He's doing great. We're excited about his progress. Nothing to report," Payton said. Nix has been rehabbing and previously stated the ankle would not be an issue.

Last season, the former Oregon quarterback completed 63.4% of his passes for 3,931 yards with 25 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He led the NFL with seven game-winning drives, rushed for 356 yards and five touchdowns, and posted a 24-10 record across 34 career starts as Denver won the AFC West at 14-3. Nix enters his third season as the Broncos' starter.

Nix missed the AFC championship game, a 10-7 loss to the New England Patriots in which backup Jarrett Stidham started. He is expected to be ready for training camp, though his offseason program participation may be limited. The Broncos' offseason program starts Monday.
